Self Love

With April being National Poetry Month, I have been reading, well, poetry! I’ve never been much of a poetry reader or writer, but the poems I’ve been reading have been really enjoyable. It prompted me to try writing my own. Yesterday I lounged on the swing on our front porch, enjoying the warming spring sunshine and jotted down a few poems that came to mind. This one is my favorite. I called it Self Love.

Self Love

Today I uncapped my favorite perfume, flooding me with the scent of the wildflowers in the woods after a spring rain.

I dabbed it on the tender side of my wrists and behind my ears,

Just like the timeless movie stars do in the old movies,

For no else but myself.
